Otsego, MN Family Photographer: A Wonderful Windy Spring Session!

        Last week, I had the honor of photographing the Saylor Family! They were the winners of my session and images giveaway back in November and I was thrilled to meet these little sweet kids and photograph a family who clearly love deeply. They also happen to be fun and beautiful as well! When we schedule our end of April session, I anticipated weather like last year- warm, beautiful, and full of spring-like fun! While we made sure to have a blast, it wasn't so warm and instead was pretty windy! Thankfully, that doesn't matter much when you have such an adorable family in front of your camera!

Savoring the Sweet

Happy Spring!  (Here is where I insert words like 'finally' and 'about time'.)  Instead, I will just convey my sheer gratitude and joy!  In this sunshine, I was reminded of how sweet it is to savor the little things of life.  Sunshine. Walks to the park. Warmth. My baby's smile and chubby theighs.  My toddler's belly laugh.  Fun summer plans.  Wonderful clients who make what I do even more lovely.  Budding trees. Kind neighbors waving and chatting. The list is really endless if we just have eyes to see it.

So often I don't have eyes to see it.  I am too busy staring at my to-do list, glancing at the clock, and checking e-mail for the 53rd time that day.  I left my cell phone at home today and went for a long walk with my boys.  Leaving that phone was one of the best decisions I made in a while.  Peace. No demands, feeling like I don't have to answer every call and get back to that e-mail within a few moments.  I was able to live in the present- in the now.  And the sweetness of life was beautiful.

Here is a picture I snapped just now of my 4 month old, Noah, while my two year old slept! :) For me right now, this is the epitome of 'sweet'.

A Snowy Spring Engagement: Nicole & Aaron

We scheduled this session envisioning flowers blooming, green grass and 60 degree weather.  What we got was a mini-blizzard complete with snow, wind, and cold!  Still, these two were all smiles and without complaint.  I LOVE Nicole and Aaron; they are kind, down to earth, and perfectly made for one another.  With their wedding just weeks away, it was fun to get a few images capturing their love before they are husband and wife!  

I am all about documenting and highlighting what makes each couple unique.  Nicole and Aaron share a love for football and watching movies together while snuggling up- so I made sure to capture a little bit of these things that make them who they are as a couple.  They also have a wonderful story of starting to fall for one another at a New Years Ever party and I was excited to include this during our time together last week!  Here is a glimpse at some of the images:
